Lawrence Upper School eighth grader Carissa Carmichael boasts a team-best .542 batting average through the Lions’ first six games of the season. The team’s starting shortstop and No. 3 hitter has amassed 17 RBIs in 24 plate appearances six games into the program’s inaugural season.

Lawrence, a private, independent school in Sagamore Hills, completes in the Lake Effect Conference and is not an Ohio High School Athletic Association member school.

Carmichael has tallied eight extra-base hits, including two home runs, for the 3-3 Lions. In a recent game against league foe Horizon Science Academy, she pitched a complete game while only allowing two runs.

“Carissa is a very mature leader for being so young,” Lawrence athletic director Bryan Cioffoletti said. “She is constantly talking and teaching on and off the field to her teammates.”
