CLEVELAND — Hi everybody from a jubilant Browns Stadium.
First of all, I have to tell you how much I missed you all, but what a day to come back, huh?!
The Browns win at the buzzer once again. They're doing it a lot, and they're doing it well.
Today, they beat the Steelers by a score of 13-10 with Dorian Thompson-Robinson at the controls as the starting quarterback, presumably the rest of the way with Deshaun Watson being out.
The Browns came out like a house of fire early in the game, and really looked like they were going to blow the Steelers right out of Browns Stadium. Going in from a yard out, Jerome Ford made it 7-0, then they cashed in right before the end of the first half on a Dustin Hopkins field goal.
It was 10-0 at the break, and the way the Browns' defense was playing, you had a thought that maybe that would be enough. But in the second half, in true Steeler-like fashion, they came back in the game.
Jaylen Warren hit that Browns defense for a 74-yard touchdown run, and then late in the game, Chris Boswell kicked a field goal. At that time, all the momentum was sitting with the Steelers, because the Browns' offense could do nothing in the second half.
But suddenly, they got the ball back very late, and Dorian Thompson-Robinson got hot, really energized by a terrific run by Kareem Hunt that gave then a first down. "DTR" then hit a big pass to Elijah Moore at the 50-yard line, a couple of slants to Amari Cooper, and presto — it's magic once again. You're getting into field-goal range.
Finally, they were there, and Dustin Hopkins connected for the winning field goal with just two seconds left to go in the game.
The Browns go to 7-3, which is a really good position to be sitting in — just a game behind the Baltimore Ravens, but ahead of the Steelers, and also way ahead now of the Cincinnati Bengals.
This team continues to do something that they've never been able to do a lot since they've come back in 1999, and that is win tight games down the stretch. This year, they're doing that, and today they definitely did that against a team they've had a history of struggling to beat in a low-scoring game.
So, the Browns are now 7-3, and we get another week for DTR to practice and get ready before the team goes out west, first to Denver and then to take on the Rams afterwards.
Now, what do you have to do? You have to keep on winning, chase down that division championship, and certainly — at the very least — be right up at the top of that wild-card position.
But what a day here at Browns Stadium, as the Browns win it in thrilling fashion. They have now won five of their last six games.
