CLEVELAND — When Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce and his girlfriend Taylor Swift attended Game 1 of the American League Championship Series between the Guardians and New York Yankees, many quickly pointed out that he wasn't wearing Cleveland gear.

On Thursday night, following the Guardians' thrilling Game 3 victory over the Yankees, Kelce, a Cleveland Heights native, took to X to defend his support of Cleveland.

He first posted on X, ecstatic about the Guardians' unbelievable win: "Playoff baseball, baby!!! @CleGuardians have the city absolutely ROCKIN TONIGHT!! What a game!"

He followed up his post by defending his fandom for Cleveland and shutting down criticisms he received for wearing plain black on Monday with a Midnight Rodeo cap.

"I’ve been a Cleveland sports fan my entire life… Make it back to countless amount of games over the years both Guards and Cavs just to enjoy these memories with my friends and family, WIN OR LOSE!!… and I don’t wear Cleveland gear one time  and all of a sudden I’m not a real fan?! Ask anybody that was in or around that suite on game 1 who I was cheering for, they’ll let you know I was there for the @CleGuardians," said Kelce in his post.

Kelce got to be a part of the Guardians' home opener in 2023 following his second Super Bowl victory with the Kansas City Chiefs. He threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Progressive Field with his mom, Donna, by his side. Unfortunately, the pitch didn't go as planned.

In addition, Kelce returned home in March with his brother Jason to attend their bobblehead night at a Cleveland Cavaliers game.
