CLEVELAND — Wait, didn't baseball season just end?
Don't fret, Clevelanders, because spring is right around the corner! Of course, the Guardians don't need to wait for then to get back to business, as the team announced Thursday it will host its 10th annual "Guards Fest" at the Huntington Convention Center on Jan. 20.
The popular festival gives fans from all over Northeast Ohio and beyond a chance to get an early taste of America's pastime by commiserating with current players and coaches as well as franchise legends. Previously known as "Tribe Fest," the event returned in 2023 following both a name change as well as two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the full list of team attendees has not yet been revealed, the Guards have already confirmed new manager Stephen Vogt will be among those making an appearance. Vogt recently accepted the top job following the resignation of longtime skipper Terry Francona.
During Guards Fest, the public will be able to meet with Vogt and other members of the club while also signing up for autograph sessions. Players and coaches will also answer questions on the main stage, and children will be able to participate in various activities including playing on a makeshift baseball diamond. Additionally, plenty of gear will be available for purchase.
As has been the case in years past, the festival will be split up into two separate sessions: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for season ticket holders followed by 1:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. for all others. Admission costs $5 for season ticket members and $15 for the general public, and reservations for the autograph sessions are also available.
Tickets for Guards Fest will go on sale beginning this Friday at 10 a.m. on CLEGuardians.com/GuardsFest. One more thing: The Guardians say the event will be completely cashless, so all on-site purchases must be made with a credit or debit card.
