CLEVELAND — On Tuesday night, the Cleveland Guardians, who were already crowned American League Central champions, secured a first-round bye in the 2024 MLB Postseason after defeating the Cincinnati Reds 6-1.
With four games remaining in the regular season, the Guards are currently the No. 2 seed in the AL, trailing the New York Yankees by 1.5 games.
As a result of clinching the first-round bye, Cleveland will get five days off between the end of the regular season and the start of the ALDS.
Regardless of the Guardians' opponent or seed, Cleveland will play their first postseason game at Progressive Field on Oct. 5 in the division series. If Cleveland continues to advance, the American League Championship Series will start on Oct. 13, and the World Series will begin on Oct. 25.
