PREVIEW

On Thursday night, the Cleveland Guardians reminded everyone that they are fighters and will not back down. While Cleveland could have been facing a sweep tonight, now they will have a chance to tie up the ALCS.

Taking the mound for the Guardians on Friday night will be 24-year-old Williams, who has not pitched in a game since Sept. 22. During the regular season, Williams went 3-10, posting a 4.86 ERA and recording 79 strikeouts.

After a regular season filled with ups and downs from Williams, the Guardians will likely have to turn to their league-best bullpen early in the game, as fans saw in games 1 and 2 against New York.

That could potentially include closer Emmanuel Clase, who shockingly gave up back-to-back homers in Game 3, causing the Guardians to have to mount a comeback. It came as such a surprise as Clase allowed just five runs and two homers during the regular season.

The Guardians will also likely look to rely on their bullpen stars, Cade Smith, Tim Herrin and Hunter Gaddis.

Now, the pressure is on the Yankees, who came into the series as the overwhelming favorite, after last night's stunning win from the Guardians.

For the Yankees, Gil will be making his postseason debut and starting for the first time since Sept. 28. During the regular season, Gil went 15-7, posting a 3.50 ERA and recording 171 strikeouts.

Despite losing last night, Aaron Judge proved that he is out of his postseason slump, hitting home runs off of the Guardians in the last two games. This could be a massive asset to the team moving forward.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Guardians/Yankees series winner will take on the winner of the National League Championship Series between the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Los Angeles currently leads the series 3-1.
