Guardians dominate Game 1: Cleveland fans electrified by 7-0 shutout over Detroit Tigers

The Guards lead the best-of-five series 1-0.

CLEVELAND — On Saturday, downtown Cleveland was a sea of red, white, and blue as thousands of Cleveland Guardians fans celebrated a Game 1 victory. The team played in front of a sold-out crowd, dominating the Detroit Tigers with a 7-0 shutout.

"It's electric, that's what I would say. It's the best thing in the world," said one Cleveland Guardians fan.

The Guardians didn’t miss a beat, shutting out the Tigers with a 7-0 score. Some fans predicted the win early in the game.

"In the first or second inning, everyone got their runs in, and I knew then the game was over," said Taylor Moore, a Cleveland Guardians fan.

However, some skepticism was still present as the postseason approached.

"Were we expecting this type of win today? Not like this, and it was a pleasant surprise," said Matt Olson, another Cleveland Guardians fan.

While fans celebrated the win, they remained hopeful for a chance to play in the Fall Classic.

"We're going to win the world championship! We have the best team in America right now, and I'm telling you, Detroit, you ain't nothing. Yankees, you ain't nothing. We've got Cleveland—Cleveland is the team to beat right now," said Jeff Bizup, a Cleveland Guardians fan.

The Guardians are set to take on the Detroit Tigers in Game 2 on Monday at Progressive Field.
