Social media reacts to Cleveland Guardians clinching ALDS in Game 5 victory over Detroit Tigers

For the first time in eight years, the Cleveland Guardians will play in the ALCS.

CLEVELAND — For decades, Cleveland Guardians fans have been given little to hope for when it comes to win or go home games in the playoffs.

Not since 1997 has a Cleveland baseball team won a playoff game in the face of elimination. That streak was broken twice in the ALDS, the second instance landing the Guardians a Monday ticket to the Bronx and a matchup with the New York Yankees in the ALCS.

Eight years ago, Cleveland found themselves in the ALCS en route to winning the pennant. Given the loaded roster they were able to build going into the 2017 season, including adding Jay Bruce mid-season, it is hard to believe it took them eight years to return to the Championship Series.

And that makes it all the sweeter.

Just as the thousands of Guardians' faithful that were sent into a craze during the many defining moments of Game 5, social media was abuzz with excitement and reaction. The latter of which can be seen below.
