CLEVELAND — Get to know more about Franmil Reyes as we go "Beyond the Dugout" with the Cleveland Indians RF/DH.
3News' Dave Chudowsky: I've heard people say it both ways... Fran-mill or Fran-meal?
Franmil Reyes: Fran-meal.
Chudowsky: Fran-meal Reyes?
Reyes: Yes!
Chudowsky: All right. We got that right off the top. Perfect! I know your hometown is important to you. Where is your hometown and what's your favorite thing about it?
Reyes: My hometown is in the south of the Dominican Republic, San Cristobal is the city, my town is Palenque. I love my town because there's a lot of good people in my town. Everything is baseball in my town, and they love the progress that they see of the other young players coming up and make their dreams come true. They're always there supporting us. There's one of my town's traditions when you win a championship and World Series or you debut in the major leagues, they make you like a parade and that's when like 20 buses go to the airport pick you up and they make a beautiful parade for you.
Chudowsky: I love it. Favorite thing about Cleveland so far?
Reyes: The fans. ... The support of the fans. No matter what time, no matter if it's raining, no matter anything they're always there supporting the team. I love that and then to see the support they give us, it gives us confidence and motivates us to give out there and give our best.
Chudowsky: And finally, biggest goal?
Reyes: Biggest goal for this year?
Chudowsky: In life, in anything. Is it win a World Series?
Reyes: I would like to win a World Series, and be a hall of famer!
Chudowsky: There you go!
Reyes: Yeah!!!
Chudowsky: All right… well guess what, I'm putting you in the Hall of Fame of Beyond The Dugout.
Reyes: Thank you!
