CLEVELAND — The 2024 MLB All-Star Game is less than a month away.
With the first update on voting, it appears that the Cleveland Guardians could be well represented for the "Midsummer Classic" in Arlington, Texas.
On Monday, Major League Baseball released an update on the first phase of this year's voting, which will close at noon on June 27.
In the update, the league revealed that José Ramírez is now the leading vote-getter for third basemen in the American League. In addition, Josh Naylor has the third most votes for first base, David Fry has the third most for designated hitter and Steven Kawn has the fourth most for outfielders.
Andrés Giménez is also in the hunt for a spot on the All-Star roster with the fifth-most votes for second basemen.
Following the conclusion of Phase 1 voting, on Thursday, June 27, the top two vote-getters at each position (and the top six outfielders) in each League will be revealed on MLB Network at 6 p.m. In addition, the leading vote-getter in each league during the first phase of voting will once again receive an automatic starting assignment at the All-Star Game and bypass the second phase of voting.
Voting for Phase 2 will begin at noon on Sunday, June 30, and last until noon on Wednesday, July 3.
The MLB Network will announce finalists on Thursday, June 27, and ESPN will unveil starters on Wednesday, July 3. Finally, full rosters will be announced on Sunday, July 7.
The Guardians' strong presence in the early voting results comes as the team is off to a 44-25 record, leading the AL Central under first-year manager Stephen Vogt.
