CLEVELAND — We are nearly two months away from baseball returning to Progressive Field.
The Cleveland Guardians shared an update on Friday morning about the new ballpark renovations, which are scheduled to be completed by opening day.
Fans will have the first chance to see the new ballpark improvements on Monday, April 8, the Guardians Home Opener against the Chicago White Sox. A time for the game has not yet been determined, as the game falls on the same day as the solar eclipse.
The team will unveil fan-facing amenities in the upper deck, as well as a new building on East 9th Street that will support the concessionaire’s ability to deliver food and beverages throughout the ballpark.
Below is a full list of the projects that are expected to be completed by April 8:
- The Pennant District- Upper Deck, Right Field
- Will feature a new, open-air group outing area, which can host large groups or be divided into three smaller spaces to host more intimate events. Fans will enjoy sweeping views of the ballpark and downtown.
- The Terrace Garden - Upper Deck, Left Field
- Socialize with friends on an outdoor patio similar to that of your favorite local brewery or restaurant. This energetic, upper left field destination will host a variety of seating/standing options, some with field views, and nearby food and beverage options. The beer garden is open and available, first come first serve, to anyone who has a ticket into the game.
- New E. 9th St. Building
- A new main kitchen and commissary will support food and beverage across all outdoor seating sections at Progressive Field. This building (the floors below the new Pennant District) will be a major driver in improving your experience when you come watch a Guards game at Progressive Field.
In January 2023, the Guardians announced their final plans for Progressive Field renovations, which are expected to be completed by 2025
Those plans include the following in addition to the projects that will be done by opening day in 2024:
- The 400 level of the Terrace Hub will be transformed into an expansive market hall open to all fans. The market hall will include authentic-to-Cleveland food and beverage items. Fans will be able to access the hall from all levels of the stadium via a new escalator and stair system.
- The Dugout Club will maintain its field-level dugout suites, with a new Dugout Club right behind the seats featuring an upscale VIP experience. The club will be available for 250 guests with tickets directly behind home plate, as well as the 72 fans with field-level seating.
- The first major upgrade to the team's clubhouses since the stadium first opened since 1994.
- Increased and expanded strength and conditioning areas for the players and upgraded dining space.
