CLEVELAND — March baseball is coming back to Cleveland.
On Thursday, Major League Baseball released the entirety of its 2020 schedule, including what could be a chilly opener for the Tribe. For the first time since 2016, the Indians will open their season at Progressive Field with a March 26 matchup against the Detroit Tigers.
After facing Detroit three times, the Indians will continue their season-opening homestand with three games against the Chicago White Sox (March 30-April 1). For what it's worth, Cleveland's temperature measured in with a high of 36 degrees and a low of 31 degrees this past March 26 with the city possessing a historical average high of 50 degree and low of 34 degrees, according to accuweather.com. Earlier this year, the Indians held their 2019 home opener on April 1, in which Cleveland's temperature was recorded at a high of 37 degrees and a low of 30 degrees.
Altogether, the Indians' schedule includes six summer weekends at Progressive Field, including the following series:
- June 19-21 vs. Chicago White Sox
- July 3-5 vs. Minnesota Twins
- July 10-12 vs. Kansas City Royals
- July 31-Aug. 2 vs. Chicago White Sox
- Aug. 14-16 vs. Seattle Mariners
- Aug. 28-30 vs. New York Yankees
The Indians will also host four opponents in Interleague play, including:
- San Francisco Giants (May 1-3)
- Cincinnati Reds (May 19-20)
- San Diego Padres (Aug. 11-12)
- Arizona Diamondbacks (Aug. 25-27)

After winning three of four games against the Minnesota Twins over the weekend, the Indians currently find themselves tied for first place in the American League Central Division with 44 games remaining in the 2019 season.
