Cleveland Indians announce lottery system for early access to Opening Day tickets

The Cleveland Indians announced on Tuesday that they'll hold a lottery system to give fans a chance at early access at purchasing tickets for Opening Day.

CLEVELAND — Tickets for the Cleveland Indians' season opener will go on sale to the general public on Feb. 24.

But Indians fans looking to get ahead of the crowd in purchasing tickets to the Tribe's March 26 matchup with the Detroit Tigers can now do so by entering a lottery system held by the team.

On Tuesday, the Indians announced that fans can enter the lottery to gain early access to Opening Day tickets by visiting Indians.com/OpeningDay. The deadline to sign up is Feb. 18, with winners being notified via email by Feb. 21 with instructions on how to purchase tickets.

The public on-sale date for Indians' single-game tickets -- including the season opener -- is Feb. 24 at 10 a.m.

An additional 24-hour presale will take place for Mastercard holders, beginning on Friday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. ET.

Despite this year's season opener being held in late-March, tickets are expected to move fast; Cleveland has sold out each of its previous 27 home openers.

For information on Indians' season tickets, fans are asked to contact 216-420-HITS or visit Indians.com/SeasonTickets.
