Cleveland Indians starting pitcher Triston McKenzie heads to the dugout after giving up a two-run home run to Minnesota Twins' Ryan Jeffers during the fifth inning of a baseball game Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, in Minneapolis.

MINNEAPOLIS — MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Nelson Cruz hit his 16th homer, and the Minnesota Twins beat the Indians 7-5 to complete a sweep of their weekend series.

Marwin Gonzalez, Ryan Jeffers and Josh Donaldson also connected, helping Minnesota win for the 10th time in 12 games. The Twins have multiple homers in six straight games, including 11 in the series against Cleveland.

The Twins stayed one game back of AL Central-leading Chicago, which beat Detroit 5-2 on Sunday. The Twins visit the White Sox for the opener of a four-game series on Monday night.

The loss was the sixth straight for the Tribe, which now sits 4 1/2 games out of first with 13 to play. While the offense finally improved with 13 hits, rookie right-hander Triston McKenzie struggled by allowing five runs over 4 1/3 innings.

The Indians are off Monday before starting a two-game series Tuesday night against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
