Clevelanders know José Ramírez is one of the best players in baseball, but over the past week, there may have been no one better in the game period.

The Indians' third baseman was announced as the American League's newest Player of the Week following a torrid road trip. In six games against the Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees, the 29-year-old hit .500 (10-for-20) with 10 runs scored, two home runs, seven RBIs, and a .900 slugging percentage. The Tribe also went 4-2 during that stretch, capped off by an 11-1 win Sunday over the Yankees that saw Ramírez go 4-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.

The runner-up for the AL MVP last year, Ramírez is in the midst of another stellar campaign, hitting 35 homers with 103 runs, 94 RBIs, 24 stolen bases, and a .909 OPS to date. For his efforts, he was named to his third AL All-Star team back in July and is expected to finish in the top 10 for MVP voting for a fourth time.

Ramírez is the first Indians to obtain AL Player of the Week since June of 2019, when Trevor Bauer took home the honors. St. Louis outfielder Tyler O'Neill was this week's National League Player of the Week after hitting .391 with three homers and 10 RBIs over six games, all Cardinal wins.
