The Cleveland Indians won't be playing inside a packed house this weekend, but Progressive Field will be as full as it's permitted to be.
On Tuesday, the Indians announced that this weekend's Friday-Sunday games vs. the New York Yankees have reached their full capacity of 30 percent. Tickets still remain for Thursday's opener in the four-game series between Cleveland and New York and can be purchased via www.Indians.com/tickets.
The Indians' upcoming sell-outs mark their first since this year's home opener against the Kansas City Royals on April 5. With capacity limited to 30 percent, Progressive Field is currently permitted to host approximately 10,500 fans.
Beginning in May, the Indians will increase their capacity limit to 40 percent -- or roughly 14,000 fans -- the team announced on Monday. Also beginning on May 7, fans can be seated in "mixed pods," or pods consisting of multiple groups from separate parties. Per Ohio's new regulations, these pods will be capped at 10 people per pod.
All fans will continue to be required to wear a Center for Disease Control-recommended face mask while in the ballpark unless they are actively eating or drinking in ticketed seats.
