Video: Fight at Saturday's Cleveland Indians game leads to plenty of internet commentary; 3 arrested

Not a good night at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.

CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Indians' hopes for another American League Central title are looking grim.

The team dropped two of three games against the Minnesota Twins over the weekend, advancing the Twins to a 4 1/2-game division lead. That sets Minnesota's magic number at nine to clinch the American League Central.

Like Cleveland's division chances, things went south in the stands at Progressive Field on Saturday. A video has made the rounds on social media showing fans fighting during Saturday's double-header.

Video shows a trio of men tussling among the seats. At one point, two of the men tumble down the seats, toward the railing. Other fans cleared the section to avoid the brawl.

Later in the video, it appears a stadium officer was attempting to intervene in the fight when he, too, took a tumble. Concerned fans rushed to check on him while the fight continued in the background.

According to Cleveland police, an argument led to the fight, and three men were arrested and charged with aggravated disorderly conduct:

  • Dale D. Ross, 23 - Geneva
  • Jon B. Rogers, 56 - Ravenna
  • Ryan Brandon Rogers, 26 - Ravenna

In addition, a 48-year-old woman from Bloomville in Seneca County was injured when the fighters tumbled over her seat. She was treated at and later released from the Cleveland Clinic with bruises to her right side, including her knee and shin.

WKYC reached out to the Indians, but the team declined to comment citing the incident as a "police matter." The video quickly gained traction on Twitter, where some said it was symbolic of the Indians' season, while others were disappointed by their fellow fans.
