Former Cleveland Indians manager, Dave Garcia, has died.
He passed away after a "lengthy stay in managed care," according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
He was 97 years old.
Garcia managed the Tribe from 1979-1982, going 247-244. His 1981 team finished within five games of a playoff spot, the closest the franchise would come between 1960 and 1993.
Garcia also managed the California Angels for parts of two seasons. At the end of his career, he had 65 years of professional baseball experience.
Bob DiBiasio, Senior Vice President of Affairs with the Cleveland Indians, confirmed the news Tuesday evening via Twitter.
