Bieber is 4-0 with a 1.30 ERA in five starts. He allowed three hits and a walk. The All-Star Game MVP from last year has struck out a major league-leading 54 in only 34 2/3 innings this season.

The Tribe's offense was supplied by Jose Ramirez, who hit a two-run double with the bases loaded in the third inning. Carlos Santana made it 3-0 with an RBI double in the fifth.

Detroit scored a run off Indians closer Brad Hand in the 9th inning on a pinch hit RBI double by Jacoby Jones. Hand was able to keep the Tigers off the board from there to record his fifth save of the season.
