Amid weather concerns, Cleveland Guardians push start time for Sunday's game with Houston Astros to 12:40 p.m.

Northeast Ohio is expected to finally get its first dose of rain in three weeks on Sunday. The Guardians are planning ahead.

CLEVELAND — One thing the Cleveland Guardians haven't had to worry about lately is weather. Northeast Ohio has gone 21 days since its last rainfall.

Amid concerns that we could see some rain on Sunday, the Cleveland Guardians are being proactive. The team announced that its start time for the Sunday, June 11 game with the Houston Astros has been moved up an hour to 12:40 p.m. Gates at Progressive Field will open at 11:30 a.m.

This weekend's series is the only appearance the Astros are making in Cleveland this season. The Guardians are heading out on a six-game road trip that starts on Tuesday in San Diego.

As 3News Senior Meteorologist Matt Wintz pointed out earlier this week, a streak of 21 days without rain would place 2023 in fifth place for the longest dry stretch in Cleveland history.

According to the 3News weather team, Sunday will also start the dry side. Rain chances build throughout the day; however, they won't amount to anything much. A rain chance is a rain chance at this point as we've gone weeks without it.

We keep a chance in the mix almost each and every single day this week. Temperatures will also fall behind a front come Monday and Tuesday. The lakeshore temperatures will likely hold in the mid to upper-60s early this week.
