LORDSTOWN, Ohio — Editor's note: The above video is from a previous story
The next phase in the evolution of Lordstown Motors' electric truck will happen this weekend in Mexico as the Endurance will compete in the SCORE San Felipe 250 race.
Lordstown Motors released a photo and video of its racing truck earlier this week ahead of Saturday's event in Baja California.
"We are thrilled to be participating in such a legendary and historic event – especially one that is considered one of the most grueling and punishing races in the world," Lordstown Motors added in a release.
The event is a 280-mile off-road race. Each year, up to 350 purpose-built vehicles compete in the harshest of conditions, but less than 50% ever cross the finish line. The Endurance is seeking to become the first electric vehicle to ever finish the San Felipe 250.
"While most of these vehicles will race through the desert in pursuit of a spot on the podium, our team is competing to showcase the toughness, high impact terrain capability and versatility of our hub motor and battery technology in more unforgiving environments than our customers will ever experience," Lordstown Motors says.
The company is taking part in the brutal race in the desert as they prepare for the start of the production of the Endurance in September.
