How it works

For the fourth consecutive year, the NBA Draft Lottery will be used to select the first four picks of the NBA Draft from a pool of the 14 teams that didn't qualify for the 2022 NBA Playoffs. After the first four picks are selected, the following 10 picks of the draft fall into place based on the order that the remaining teams held prior to the drawing.

Each of the 14 draft lottery teams is assigned odds of landing a top-four pick that correspond to their place in the NBA standings with the teams with worse records possessing a higher chance of climbing in the draft lottery. The three teams that finish with the three worst records in the league each possess the same chances of landing a top-four pick (52.14 percent) as well as the same odds of landing the coveted No. 1 overall pick (14 percent).
