Game 4 preview
In order for the Cavaliers to even things out before heading back to Boston, they will need to get more help, especially with Donovan Mitchell now ruled out for Game 4 with a calf strain. The problem for the Cavaliers in the playoffs has been the inconsistency in the distribution of scoring from amongst Mitchell's teammates.
Although the problem may have seemed solved in Game 2, the Cavs returned to their old ways in Game 3, with only Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Darius Garland scoring in double digits.
Starters Max Strus and Isaac Okoro scored a mere six and two points, respectively, in the 106-93 loss on Saturday. On the other hand, the Celtics took full advantage of the Cavaliers' defensive weaknesses by shooting 51.2% from the field on Saturday night.
The Cavaliers will need to capitalize on their home court advantage to make this a competitive series against the Celtics and shut down the chance of "a gentleman's sweep."
Although Evan Mobley deserves credit for his emergence during the playoffs in light of Jarrett Allen's injury, the team is still missing Allen in the paint. Ahead of Monday night's game, Allen remains out for Game 4 after missing the team's past six games with bruised ribs.
