CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the Locked On Cavs podcast in the video player above is from Nov. 9, 2021.
Through the first two months of the 2021-22 NBA season, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the league's most now surprising teams. Now, having emerged as a potential contender in the Eastern Conference, could Cleveland pull off one of the league's most surprising trades?
On Tuesday, SportsBetting.ag released a list of odds for potential trade destinations for three former All-Stars: Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving, Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons and Indiana Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis. And while the Cavs weren't listed for Irving, they were given the second-best odds of trading for Simmons and the fifth-best odds of trading for Sabonis, with less than two months to go until the Feb. 10 trade deadline.
At +275 odds, Cleveland trails only the Portland Trail Blazers (+250) on the list of potential suitors for Simmons. Other candidates to acquire the 25-year-old three-time All-Star include the Indiana Pacers (+300), New York Knicks (+400), Minnesota Timberwolves (+500), Los Angeles Lakers (+600), Sacramento Kings (+750), New Orleans Pelicans (+800), Brooklyn Nets (+900), Boston Celtics (+1000) and Detroit Pistons (+1200).
Meanwhile, at +450 odds to acquire Sabonis, the Cavs trail the Celtics (+300), Trail Blazers (+325), Dallas Mavericks (+350) and 76ers (+400). The Knicks (+500), Charlotte Hornets (+600), Los Angeles Clippers (+700), Timberwolves (+800), Kings (+1000) and Lakers (+1200) are also included on the list of potential suitors for the two-time All-Star.
At 20-13, Cleveland enters its road matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday night with the fifth-best record in the Eastern Conference.
