CLEVELAND — Editor's note: the video in the player above is from Nov. 23, 2020.
More than a week removed from the 2020 NBA Draft, Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman continues to add to the team's collection of assets.
On Friday, the Cavs announced that they have completed a deal to acquire guard Rayjon Tucker and a 2027 second-round pick from the Utah Jazz. In exchange, Cleveland will send the Jazz cash considerations.
After going undrafted out of Little Rock in 2019, the 6-foot-5, 210-pound Tucker spent time with the Wisconsin Herd of the NBA G League before signing with Utah. In 20 games with the Jazz last season, Tucker averaged 3.1 points and 1.0 rebounds in an average of 8.1 minutes of action.
How much longer Tucker will remain a member of the Cavs' roster is to be determined, as his $1,517,981 salary for the 2020-21 NBA season is only partially guaranteed until Nov. 29. In between now and then, Cleveland could opt to waive the 23-year-old guard or perhaps extend the deadline on his contract guarantee until a later date.
Meanwhile, the 2027 second-round pick marks the third that the Cavs have acquired in the last week. Previously, Cleveland acquired a 2026 second-round pick from the Los Angeles Lakers and a 2025 second-round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks.
Dating back to the start of the NBA offseason, the Cavs have also selected Auburn forward Isaac Okoro with the No. 5 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and acquired veteran big man JaVale McGee from the Lakers. Cleveland also re-signed guard Matthew Dellavedova, while center Tristan Thompson signed with the Boston Celtics.
