CLEVELAND — Following a five-game road trip, which extended their losing streak to eight games, the Cleveland Cavaliers will have to wait to return to the friendly confines of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.
On Tuesday, the NBA announced that it has postponed the San Antonio Spurs' next three games -- including Wednesday night's contest in Cleveland -- after four Spurs players tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). In its place, the NBA has scheduled the Cavs to host the Denver Nuggets at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The unexpected three-day break couldn't have come at a better time for Cleveland, which fell to 10-19 following Monday night's loss to the Golden State Warriors. Once thought to be one of the most pleasant surprises of the NBA season, the Cavs have since fallen out of playoff contention and appear headed for a third consecutive high pick in the NBA Draft.
What's more is that Cleveland has also decided that it will be sitting center Andre Drummond as it attempts to find a trade partner for the two-time All-Star. The NBA trade deadline is March 25.
