As the 2019-20 NBA season approaches, the Cleveland Cavaliers are preparing to celebrate their 50th anniversary as a franchise.
And as a result, fans will be able to receive several retro-themed promotional giveaways throughout the upcoming campaign.
On Thursday, the Cavs' official Twitter account revealed the throwback themed items that will be included as a part of their 2019-20 promotional calendar. The first giveaway will take place when Cleveland hosts the Orlando Magic on Nov. 27, with fans in attendance receiving a Nick Mileti Cavalier hat to celebrate the franchise's "Early Years" (1970-83).
The following week, fans in attendance for the Cavs' Dec. 3 matchup will receive the team's first bobblehead giveaway of the season with Austin Carr having been voted to represent the franchise's first era.
In addition to Carr, fans will be able to receive bobbleheads of Mark Price (Jan 4 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder) and Zydrunas Ilgauskas (Feb. 29 vs. Indiana Pacers) in honor of the Richfield Coliseum Era and Gund Arena Era, respectively. Voting is still underway for which players bobbleheads will be made for the "New Wine & Gold Era" (March 4 vs. Boston Celtics) and "Championship Era and Beyond" (March 30 vs. Phoenix Suns).
Other promotional items this season include a Whammer bobblehead (Dec. 20 vs. Memphis Grizzlies), a retro 3D photo viewer (Nov. 17 vs. Philadelphia 76ers) and a 90s fanny pack (Nov. 23 vs. Portland Trail Blazers) and hat (Jan. 28 vs. New Orleans Pelicans). Last month, the Cavs revealed they will be wearing their 1990s Gund Arena Era throwback jerseys for seven games this season.
