CLEVELAND -- On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns will kick off their 2019 preseason schedule.

In two months, the Cleveland Cavaliers will kick off theirs.

Hours before the Browns were slated to face the Washington Redskins in an exhibition at FirstEnergy Stadium, the Cavs announced the four games that will comprise their 2019 preseason slate. Cleveland will open its exhibition schedule with an Oct. 7 matchup in which it will host San Lorenzo de Almagro from Argentina at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

After that, the Cavs will head to Detroit for a matchup against the Pistons before facing the Boston Celtics twice -- once at home and once on the road.

The entirety of Cleveland's 2019 preseason schedule is as follows:

  • Monday, Oct. 7 vs. San Lorenzo de Almagro (Argentina) – 6:00 p.m. at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse
  • Friday, Oct. 11 @ Detroit – 7:00 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena
  • Sunday, Oct. 13 @ Boston – 3:00 p.m. at TD Garden
  • Tuesday, Oct. 15 vs. Boston – 7:00 p.m. at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse

The NBA will release the entirety of its 2019-20 regular-season schedule on Monday, August 20.

Following LeBron James' free agency departure in 2018, the Cavs remain in the early stages of what will likely be a multiyear rebuild. Last season, Cleveland totaled a 19-63 record, which tied with the Phoenix Suns for the second-worst in the NBA and landed the No. 5 pick in the 2019 draft as a result of the league's lottery.

With that pick, the Cavs selected Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland, who will join 5-time All-Star Kevin Lov and second-year guard Collin Sexton as a part of the team's core.
