CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers announced that the Wednesday, March 15th home game against the Philadelphia 76ers will officially be "Cavs Bow Tie Night".
The Cavaliers designated the special occasion to help raise funds for NF Forward. NF Forward is an organization committed to advancing research to benefit individuals and families affected by neurofibromatosis (NF).
The special event is part of the Cavaliers season-long "Bow Tie Campaign" dedicated to the son of Cavs owner Dan Gilbert, 26-year-old Nick Gilbert and all around the world who are affected by NF.
"We are honored to stand behind Nick and the millions around the world who battle neurofibromatosis. As a Cavaliers family, we celebrate the strength and resilience these individuals demonstrate every day and shine a spotlight on the trailblazing research being funded by our partners and friends at NF Forward,” said Nic Barlage, Cleveland Cavaliers, Rock Entertainment Group and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse CEO. “Throughout our season, we have heard stories from coast to coast about what this dedication has meant to those affected by NF. With this special night, we hope to give our supportive fans the opportunity to join us in making a meaningful impact in the fight against this illness."
NF is a genetic disorder with no present cure which causes tumors to grow on nerve pathways anywhere in the body. It impacts 1 in every 3,000 people across all populations throughout the world, including all races, ethnicities, and genders. NF tumors can lead to blindness, deafness, bone abnormalities, disabling pain, and cancer.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase a $5 wine and gold bowtie lapel pin inside Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse or online. Donations can be made to NF Forward by visiting cavs.com/bowtie or purchasing a 50/50 raffle ticket on the night of the game. All proceeds will go to NF Forward.
“We are so grateful to the entire Cavs organization for their continued support of our pursuit to end neurofibromatosis, especially through their Bow Tie Campaign,” said Kayleigh Roy, Director of NF Forward. “Cavs Bow Tie Night will ensure that we can continue our full-court press on the most common of rare diseases, and provide hope for current and future generations of those enduring neurofibromatosis.”
