Still searching for their first win of the 2018-19 season, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be without their top player when they face the Detroit Pistons on Thursday night.
Hours before tip-off, the Cavs announced that Kevin Love would miss their matchup with the Pistons due to foot soreness. The 5-time All-Star's status will be updated prior to the team's home game with the Indiana Pacers on Saturday.
On Wednesday, Love played a team-high 29 minutes and tallied team-bests of 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Cavs fell to the Brooklyn Nets by a score of 102-86 for their fourth loss in as many games this season. Love, who signed a 4-year, $120 million extension with Cleveland this past offseason, leads the Cavs with averages of 19.0 points and 13.5 rebounds through four games.
Love's absence against Detroit, which enters Thursday night with a 3-0 record, will likely open up playing time for reserve center Ante Zizic and potentially veteran forward Channing Frye.
