Game 6 Preview
It's do-or-die for the Orlando Magic, who are on the brink of being eliminated from Round 1 of the 2024 NBA Playoffs. The Cavaliers pulled off a thrilling 104-103 win over Orlando in Game 5, giving them a 3-2 series lead.
On Friday night, the Cavs will have a chance at advancing to the Eastern Conference semi-finals, Round 2 of the NBA Playoffs, for the first time since 2018, when LeBron James left Cleveland.
However, the task won't be easy as the Wine and Gold have struggled on the road in this series, getting blown out by the Magic in games 3 and 4.
The Cavs have yet to find a way to shut down Paolo Banchero, who scored a whopping 39 points in his team's loss on Tuesday. The 21-year-old has been a dominating force in the playoffs, averaging 24.8 points per game.
Unfortunately, Jarrett Allen has also been ruled out for the second game in a row. Allen, who missed Game 5 due to bruised ribs, is currently listed as day-to-day. Allen is averaging a double-double in the postseason with 17 points and 10 rebounds per game.
In order to win Game 6, the Cavaliers will need to continue their gritty playing style, which was on full display in the strong team win on Tuesday.
Players like Max Strus and Marcus Morris Sr, who scored 16 and 12 points in Game 5, will need to continue to step up and find an offensive rhythm while Donovan Mitchell and Evan Mobley continue their postseason success.
Road Ahead
Here's what the road ahead could look like for the Cavaliers:
IF the Cavs win Game 6, they will play on the road against the Boston Celtics on Sunday, May 5. IF the Magic win Game 6, Cleveland will host a Game 7 against Orlando at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Sunday, May 5, at 1 p.m.
