CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially signed veteran guard Rajon Rondo.
The news was announced Monday in a press release from Cavaliers General Manager, Koby Altman.
Rondo comes to the Cavaliers from the Los Angeles Lakers in a three-team deal. In the deal, the New York Knicks receive Cavaliers guard Denzel Valentine and the draft rights to Wang Zhelin, Brad Newley and cash considerations from the Lakers. Additionally, the Lakers receive the draft rights to Louis Labeyrie from New York.
Prior to joining the Wine and Gold, Rondo played in 18 games for the Lakers during the 2021-2022 season; his third year with the team.

Rubio was the second guard that the Cavs lost for the season, as Collin Sexton also underwent knee surgery, which ended his season last month. The team is also currently without starting point guard Darius Garland, who is in the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
With an NBA career spanning more than 15 years, Rondo has played in 936 games with more than 700 career starts. He has played with the Lakers, Clippers, Hawks, Pelicans, Bulls, Kings, Mavericks and Celtics.
Rondo, who will wear No. 1 for the Cavaliers, has a career average of of 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.6 steals in 30.1 minutes per contest.
Rajon Rondo joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as a two-time NBA Champion and four-time NBA All-Star.
The Cavaliers are currently sitting at 21-16 on the season, in fifth-place in the Eastern Conference. The team is scheduled to take on the Memphis Grizzles at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on Tuesday, January 4.
