CLEVELAND — The NBA still does not have a firm return-to-play proposal in place amid the COVID-19 pandemic and there are still plenty of uncertainties as to when basketball action will resume. However, the Cleveland Cavaliers still want fans to understand just how important they are.
On Monday the Cavs announced that they plan to celebrate a virtual Fan Appreciation Day on Thursday, May 21, which will offer hundreds of prize giveaways online. The prizes will be awarded for fans using Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the Cavs App.
Cavaliers President of Business Operations Nic Barlage is obviously excited about this upcoming virtual experience.
“Every season our Fan Appreciation Day is one of the most rewarding and fun games on our schedule. This year, the appreciation we have for our fans has really gone to a different and higher dimension as we’ve faced the COVID19 journey together,” Barlage said in a statement. "While our schedule has be altered, our connectivity and bond with our fans has just grown stronger. We look forward to thanking our great fans during this special edition of Fan Appreciation Day presented by Discount Drug Mart."
Beginning on May 21st through May 25th fans can enter to win great prizes at Cavs.com/FanApp that include:
- Exclusive autographed Cavs merch
- Cavs Legion Lair Party presented by Hot Pockets*
- A free week of a Cavs Academy Youth Basketball Summer Camp
- A virtual one-on-one basketball training session with a Cavs Academy Coach
- A virtual Q&A session with a Cavs personality
This will be the Cavaliers 18th annual Fan Appreciation Day.
Normally Fan Appreciation Day is celebrated during the regular season home-finale at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. However, due to the COVID-19 crisis, this was a unique way to still celebrate the Cavs and their fans in a safe, virtual way.
