CLEVELAND — For the first time since the 2016-17 season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are bringing back the navy blue.
On Wednesday, the Cavs unveiled the latest version of their Nike 'City Edition' alternate uniforms, which will be worn sporadically throughout the remainder of the 2019-20 NBA season. And after wearing a 1980s-inspired blue and orange color scheme last season, the team is once again bringing back a familiar with this season's navy blue jersey featuring wine and gold accents reminiscent of the popular 'CavFanatic' alternate the team wore from 2014-2017.
With the Cavs currently celebrating their 50th anniversary as a franchise, the nods to their past didn't stop there. In addition to the now-retro navy colorway, the uniform also features a feathered script 'CLE' reminiscent of the team's first uniforms, panel striping that calls back to its second jerseys, as well as numbering that pays homage to the Cavs' Gund Arena-era jerseys of the mid-1990s.
The waistband on the shorts also feature a V-turned into a basketball hoop, similar to the team's logo in the 1980s.
The Cavs will debut their new City Edition uniforms on Wednesday, Nov. 27 when they host the Orlando Magic and will also wear them for the following games:
- Nov. 27 vs Orlando
- Dec. 3 vs Detroit
- Dec. 6 vs Orlando
