CLEVELAND — The Cavaliers on Thursday will unveil a new, state-of-the-art gaming center for its esports affiliate.
The center, located in Cleveland's Battery Park neighborhood, will be the home of the Cavs Legion Gaming Club of the official NBA 2K League. The more-than-2,700-square-foot facility is said to be the first of its kind in Northeast Ohio.
Said Cavs President of Business Operations Nic Barlage:
"We’re thrilled to introduce this state-of-the-art facility designed to provide esports enthusiasts from Cleveland, Northeast Ohio and beyond a place to come together to compete, create and celebrate the world of competitive gaming. Not only will this training center give our Cavs Legion team a first-class venue to practice and sharpen their skills for the NBA 2K League, but it will also provide our region’s next generation of star gamers best-in-class tools to fuel their passion for esports."
Features at the center will include more than three-dozen gaming stations, sound-proof studios, and some of the fastest internet speeds on the market. In addition, there is a large stage capable of hosting tournaments or other large events, and the building even has a view of Edgewater Beach.
