A fan favorite is making his return to Northeast Ohio. On Wednesday, the G League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Cleveland Charge, announced that it has re-signed center Tacko Fall.
As an affiliate player, Fall will exclusively play for the Charge and could potentially re-sign with the Cavs. Cleveland had waived the 26-year-old center earlier this week in order to sign guard Brandon Goodwin to a two-way contract.
Listed at 7-foot-6 and 311 pounds, Fall's size has made him one of basketball's most fascinating players dating back to his high school days at Liberty Christian Academy in Tavares, Florida. After a four-year career at the University of Central Florida in which he averaged 10.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.4 blocks and earned 2017 AAC Defensive Player of the Year honors, the native of Senegal signed with the Boston Celtics as an undrafted free agent
While he only appeared in 26 games over the course of two seasons with the Celtics, he was a mainstay on Boston's G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws. In 2020, he was named to the G League's All-Defensive Team.
This past offseason, Fall signed a one-year contract with the Cavs, which was ultimately converted into a two-way deal that allowed him to for the Charge. In 11 games, including one start, with the Cavs, he averaged 1.1 points, 2.1 rebounds 0.5 blocks in 5.4 minutes.
