CLEVELAND β Scoring a franchise-record 71 points, guard Donovan Mitchell led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 145-134 overtime victory over the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
Following the 3-time All-Star shooting guard's historic performance, which tied Elgin Baylor (1960) and David Robinson (1994) for the eighth highest-scoring game by a player in NBA history, it didn't take long for reaction across the league and from some of Mitchell's teammates to pour in on social media.
That included a tweet from the two players who most previously laid claim to Cleveland's single-game scoring record, LeBron James, who scored 57 points in 2017, and Kyrie Irving, who totaled 57 points of his own in 2015.
Meanwhile, current Cavs forward Kevin Love -- who played alongside James, Irving and Mitchell in each of their record-setting performances -- took to Twitter to share the best performances he's witnessed as a member of Cleveland's roster, including one of his own.
"No particular order but these top my time as a Cav:
- Bron Game 1 2018 finals
- Ky 55 vs Portland and 57 vs San Antonio
- Don 71 tonight
- Bron and Ky 41 a piece in game 5 down 3-[1] 2016 finals
- Obviously my 34 point first quarter against Portland
"What am I missing?" Love tweeted.
Added Cavaliers great Mark Price: Well done @spidadmitchell β¦ You put on a show last night! Thank you for giving the @Cavs family a night we will never forget! #CavsOnTheRise"
Others to weigh in on Mitchell's historic outing included teammate Robin Lopez, former Cavs forward Richard Jefferson, and even, Mitchell himself.
