ESPN to air Games 5 and 7 of 2016 NBA Finals on Wednesday night

ESPN will air Games 5 and 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night.

After losing Game 4 of the 2016 NBA Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers found themselves facing a 3-1 series deficit to the Golden State Warriors.

The rest, as they say, was history -- literally.

On Wednesday, ESPN will re-live some of that history, by airing two of the most memorable games of the Cavs' comeback.

At 7 p.m. ET, the Worldwide Leader in Sports will air Game 5 of the NBA Finals, in which LeBron James and Kyrie Irving extended the series by becoming the first teammates in Finals history to each score 40 points. At 9:30 p.m. ET, it will then air Game 7 of the NBA Finals, which saw James tally a triple-double and Irving hit the game-winning shot as the Cavs completed the first 3-1 comeback in NBA Finals history to win Cleveland its first major sports championship in 52 years.

ESPN's re-airing of the 2016 NBA Finals will kick start the NBA Wednesday Nights presented by State Farm series in which the station will air classic NBA Finals games each Wednesday night throughout the month of April. The series will help fill the content void left by the NBA season having been suspended indefinitely as the result of concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19).

A full schedule of games included in the series can be found here.
