But ahead of Game 1 of the NBA Finals, LeBron James took his team's tradition to another level, arriving at Oracle Arena in Oakland in his customary Thom Browne suit, albeit with one slight alteration.
While James' teammates donned their typical matching road game attire, the 4-time MVP wore his Browne suit, along with a pair of suit shorts. The unique look caught the attention of social media, which for better or worse, was infatuated with James' more modern style choice.
In most of their road games in these playoffs, the Cavs have arrived at the opponents' arena wearing custom Thom Browne suits. On Richard Jefferson's 'Road Trippin'' podcast earlier this month, Cleveland center Tristan Thompson revealed the suits were originally the idea of former Cavs guard Dwyane Wade.
"It was originally D-Wade's idea. It was D-Wade's stylist and him. D-Wade said, 'Hey guys, Thom Browne wants to make you guys some suits to wear,'" Thompson said. "So once D-Wade gets traded, I guess the stylist reaches out to [Cavs employee Ernie] Ramos and says, 'Hey, they still want to do the suits for y'all.' Of course, we're the Cavaliers, right? [Laughs]."
According to Browne's website, the suits are valued at approximately $3,000 apiece. No word yet on what James' shortened version runs.
