CLEVELAND — According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cleveland Cavaliers and center Jarrett Allen have agreed to a 3-year maximum contract extension worth $91 million.

On Friday, Cavaliers President of Basketball Operations Koby Altman confirmed the team signed the center to a multi-year extension. The team did not disclose financial details of the contract.

“We couldn’t be more excited that Jarrett Allen chose to extend in Cleveland for the prime of his career," said Altman. “Jarrett’s growth as a player, at just 26 years old, was accelerated when he earned his first All-Star selection in 2022. He is the anchor of our core group of players and his presence fits our vision for sustainable success. Jarrett also embodies the culture and values of our organization, and we look forward to achieving even greater things together.”

With two years left on his current deal, the extension will keep Allen under contract in Cleveland through the 2028-29 season. He will collect $131 million in guaranteed money over the next five years.

The 2024 offseason has proved to be a busy one for the Cavs even though they have yet to make a splash in free agency or the trade market. With superstar Donovan Mitchell and hopeful superstar of the future Evan Mobley signed to new extensions, the Cavs now have three pieces of the "Core Four" locked up for years to come as they look to compete at the top of the Eastern Conference.

Allen was as dependable as ever for the Cavaliers in the 2023-24 regular season. As the rest of the starters had their seasons dampened with various injuries, Allen was Cleveland's rock playing in 77 games, averaging a career-high 16.5 points along with 10.5 rebounds per game.

Unfortunately for the Cavs, the dependency he showed in the regular season was marred by an unfortunately timed rib injury early in Round 1 of the playoffs against the Orlando Magic. Allen would not play another game for Cleveland in the postseason after Game 4 of the Orlando series.

Assuming Donovan Mitchell does not pick up his player option for the 2027-28 regular season, the Cavaliers' "Core Four" will all be under contract with the team through the 2026-27 season.
