Nearly a year after being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Rodney Hood is once again on the move.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cavs have traded Hood to Portland Trail Blazers. In return, Cleveland will receive shooting guard Nik Stauskas, point guard Wade Baldwin and two future second-round picks.
Laying claim to one of the worst records in the NBA at 11-42, the Cavs were expected to be sellers in the days leading up to Thursday's trade deadline, with Hood being one of their likeliest exports. After signing a one-year qualifying offer with Cleveland in the offseason, Hood will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Hood's departure brings an unceremonious end to his one-year stint with the Cavs, which began when he was acquired from the Utah Jazz in a three-way trade at last year's trade deadline. After falling out of the team's rotation during the postseason -- and famously refusing to enter a game for mop-up duty -- Hood entered the 2018-19 season expected to be one of Cleveland's leading scorers following LeBron James' offseason departure.
The fifth-year guard, however, failed to live up to lofty expectations this season, averaging 12.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 45 games. In Portland, he'll once again enter postseason contention, with the Blazers laying claim to the fourth-best record in the Western Conference 32-20.
Meanwhile, Cleveland will mark Stauskas' fifth team in five years since he was selected with the No. 8 pick in the 2014 draft. Appearing in 44 games with Portland this season, he has averaged 6.1 points in 15.3 minutes per game.
The No. 17 overall pick of the 2016 draft, Baldwin arrives in Cleveland having averaged 3.1 points per game in the first three seasons of his NBA career, including 1.9 points in 16 appearances this season.
