It's been more than a year since Kevin Love shared his struggles with mental health, which included suffering multiple panic attacks last season.
The impact of Love's revelation, however, is still very much being felt.
That much was clear on Monday following the Cleveland Cavaliers' 122-113 loss to the Phoenix Suns. Although Love didn't play in the contest due to left shoulder soreness, he did manage to provide one of the game's best highlights -- admittedly, not a high bar to clear -- meeting with a Cavs fan who was clearly inspired by the 5-time All-Star's call for empathy and understanding.
"EVERYONE IS GOING THROUGH SOMETHING," read a sign held by Mase Kuret as he posed for a picture with Love in the bowels of Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. "#ThankYouKevin."
"So thankful for this young man," Love wrote in an Instagram post that has since been liked more than 73,000 times. "Mase you are stronger than ever!!! So happy to help you in your journey. People like you make it all worth it to share my mental health story. Keep pushing through and know that you are LOVED. Until next time my friend."
Last March, Love opened up about his battles with mental health in an essay for The Players' Tribune titled "Everyone is going through something."
"Mental health isn’t just an athlete thing," Love wrote. "What you do for a living doesn’t have to define who you are. This is an everyone thing. No matter what our circumstances, we’re all carrying around things that hurt -- and they can hurt us if we keep them buried inside."
In the time since, Love has established himself as one of the most prominent voices in sports to continue to speak up about mental health. In September, he established the Kevin Love Fund, which aims to "empower people to really work on their physical, but also mental well-being."
If Kuret's sign is any indication, the Cavs' star forward is continuing to accomplish just that.
