LeBron James calls attention to Na'Kia Crawford's death

Taking to Twitter, LeBron James called attention to the death of 18-year-old Na'Kia Crawford in his hometown of Akron.

LeBron James has never been shy to use his platform.

And when it comes to his hometown of Akron, that rings especially true.

So perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise that James took to Twitter on Tuesday night to call attention to the death of 18-year-old Na'Kia Crawford, was shot to death near North Howard Street and West North Street on Sunday just before 1:30 p.m. Officials are continuing to seek evidence in the investigation and have yet to release a motive or make any arrests at this time.

Retweeting a post stating, "I’m already seeing posts about Na’Kia Crawford slow down," James made it clear he wouldn't let that happen.

"Nah we ain’t letting it slow down!! No Sir, Not Me," wrote James, who has 46.5 million Twitter followers. "Somebody know something for sure. #JUSTICE4Nakia"

James and his wife, Savannah, also posted about Na'Kia's death on their Instagram pages, as did James' friend and business partner -- and fellow Akron native -- Maverick Carter.

"Oppression of Black people is built into the fabric of this country but the open outright hate and killing is BACK," Carter wrote. "The president of this country has promoted and drove the lines of division to the point this type of hatred is now happening on the streets of America AGAIN. Only way to stop this is to keep pushing and demanding change. #akronfindherkiller"
