Despite leaving the Cavaliers for a second time earlier this month to join the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James is not ruling out a third return to Cleveland.
On Monday, James sat down with WKYC's Amani Abraham, where the two mostly discussed the opening of his I PROMISE School in his hometown of Akron. However, Abraham also asked LeBron about his basketball future, with James vowing to stay connected to the community.
"I'm going to always be in my hometown of Akron, that's for sure," he said. "Being around the community of Northeast Ohio as well, it's just who I am."
When asked if he would ever come back to the Cavs?
"I don't close [any] chapters," he said. "I don't [close any] doors."
James' current four-year deal with the Lakers includes an opt-out clause after the 2020-21 season, meaning the earliest he could return would be at age 36. Regardless of what happens in his playing career, the basketball legend did express hope of seeing his number 23 retired in the rafters of Quicken Loans Arena, something owner Dan Gilbert has vowed will happen one day.
"That would definitely bring us back," he said.
