CLEVELAND — Did anyone think that on May 8, both LeBron James and Kyrie Irving's teams would be out of the NBA playoffs?

The duo who led the Cavaliers to the NBA championship just three short years ago are apparently finding out that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

James' Lakers missed the playoffs for the sixth year in a row. They decided to play hardball in contract negotiations with Ty Lue and still do not have a head coach.

To top off a bad day in LaLaLand, Lakers owner Jeannie Buss is reportedly being implored to trade LeBron, according to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN.

Irving's Celtics were bounced out of the Eastern Conference playoffs by the Milwaukee Bucks, losing four straight games after taking Game 1. This was supposed to be Boston's year, with Irving and Gordon Hayward healthy to join young stars Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Terry Rozier.

Irving's performance in Game 5 in what was likely his last game as a Celtic before free agency?  15 points on 6-for-21 shooting from the field with 1 assist.

Jim Donovan and I talked about Kyrie and LeBron's troubles during Thursday's Donovan Live Postgame Show:

Social media had a field day on Wednesday night with the misfortunes of the former Cavs, in particular Irving, who helped to end any chance of additional NBA titles by forcing a trade from Cleveland two summers ago.
