BUFFALO, N.Y. — Akron women's basketball shot just 38% from the field and couldn't hang in late in a 76-59 loss to Buffalo Wednesday night in a meeting of two of the Mid-American Conference's best teams.
Freshman and Strongsville native Reagan Bass had 18 points and six rebounds, and the Zips (7-5, 4-2 MAC) closed their deficit to six less than two minutes into the fourth quarter. But the Bulls ended the game with a 17-6 run, boosted by double-doubles from Adebola Adeyeye and Loren Christie.
Buffalo (11-4, 5-0) made 47% of their shots, despite going only 1 of 12 from 3-point range. They also won the rebounding battle 50-31 and out-scored UA in the paint 52-28.
Their four-game winning streak now over, Akron will get four days off before heading to Northern Illinois Monday evening.
