CLEVELAND — The Cleveland State Vikings will look to stay on top of the Horizon League standings on Friday night as they play host to Milwaukee at the Wolstein Center.
For the second consecutive Friday, the Vikings will be showcased on national television as the game against the Panthers will be shown on ESPN2. Tip off is set for 9:00 p.m. You can also hear the game with Al Pawlowski on on 1420-WHK, 102.5 FM and whkradio.com.
Cleveland State surged to the top of the Horizon League standings by winning their first nine conference games. That streak came to an end on Saturday, when they lost to Wright State 85-49. The Vikings are 9-4 overall and 9-1 in conference play, while Wright State is 8-3 in the Horizon League.
"We're a completely different program than we were our first game," Vikings head coach Dennis Gates told 3News' Nick Camino during a recent conversation. "We just continue to grow, but we have yet to play to our full potential."
Milwaukee comes into their matchup with the Vikings having lost both of their games to Purdue Fort Wayne last weekend to fall to 5-4 overall and 4-3 in the Horizon League.
Last Friday, the Vikings beat Wright State in a 66-64 thriller on ESPNU, the team's first regular season game on an ESPN linear network since the 2014-15 season.
Although fans are not allowed to attend Horizon League games this winter due to COVID-19, it's not too early to start planning to come see the Vikings in the future. Click here to learn more about Cleveland State's early bird season ticket packages, or call (216) 687-4848.
