CLEVELAND โ The postseason has arrived for Cleveland State's men's basketball team, and one of the program's star players is getting some much-deserved recognition.
Forward Tristan Enaruna was named a first-team All-Horizon League selection on Monday, the only Viking to make the all-conference roster. An offseason transfer from Iowa State, the Netherlands native is averaging 15.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in his first year with CSU.
Enaruna was a four-star high school recruit and top 100 prospect in 2019 when he committed to Kansas, and spent two seasons coming off the bench for Bill Self's Jayhawks. He then elected to leave for fellow Big 12 program ISU, and as a starter for most of 2021-22 helped the Cyclones make the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
After Iowa State assistant coach Daniyal Robinson took the head job at Cleveland State, Enaruna chose to transfer again and join him in Northeast Ohio. He has since made his presence known with five double-doubles and seven 20-point games, leading the Vikings to a 19-12 record so far and a tie for second in the Horizon League.
Though technically a senior, Enaruna could potentially return to CSU next season, as all NCAA athletes were granted an extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Other Vikes honored on Monday included Deante Johnson and Deshon Parker, who were both named to the conference's all-defensive team.
Seeded third in the upcoming Horizon League Tournament, Cleveland State will host a quarterfinal matchup with No. 6 Robert Morris Thursday night at the Wolstein Center.
