Tae Williams scores 20, Cleveland State beats Youngstown State 81-78 in huge Horizon League showdown

The Vikings overcame a late second-half deficit and are now only a game out of first in the conference.

CLEVELAND โ€” Tae Williams' 20 points helped Cleveland State defeat Youngstown State 81-78 Sunday in a huge Horizon League showdown at the Wolstein Center.

Williams also contributed six rebounds and three steals for the Vikings (16-11, 11-5 Horizon League). Tristan Enaruna added 18 points while shooting 7 of 13 from the field and 4 for 7 from the line, and he also had six rebounds. Drew Lowder recorded 15 points and shot 6 for 14, including a 3-pointer with 5:19 left that gave CSU the lead for good.

The Penguins (20-7, 12-4) were led in scoring by Brandon Rush, who finished with 20 points. They also got 17 points from Dwayne Cohill, while Adrian Nelson put up 12 points and 19 rebounds. The loss snapped YSU's five-game winning streak.

By contrast, Cleveland State has won two straight, and now trails both YSU and Milwaukee by only a game for first place in the conference standings. The Vikes will host Wright State Friday night.
