FRISCO, Texas — Kent State made history on Friday night in Texas.
The Golden Flashes picked up their first bowl victory in the history of the program, beating Utah State 51-41 in the Frisco Bowl.
Flashes quarterback Dustin Crum had a terrific all-around night, completing 21 of 26 passes for 289 yards and two touchdowns to go with 147 yards rushing on 23 carries.
Crum helped to put the game out of reach, scoring on a 4-yard touchdown run on 4th-and-1 with 1:56 to go that put Kent State up by 10 points.
He started the night by hitting Isaiah McKoy on a 78-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to put Kent State on the board after the Aggies struck first.
Crum, a Midview grad, put up nearly 3,000 total yards and 23 total touchdowns during the regular season and helped lead Kent State to three straight wins to end the year and gain bowl eligibility.
Utah State quarterback Jordan Love also played well this evening. He hit on 30 of 39 passes for 317 yards and three touchdowns. Love has also been intercepted once.
Utah State was playing its eighth bowl game in nine years. The Frisco Bowl was just the second bowl for the Golden Flashes since 1972, when Nick Saban was a defensive back and Jack Lambert was a linebacker at Kent State.
